Sickness

A Fatigued or Exhausted character is vulnerable to the myriad of diseases that infest Morytania. Once per day of Fatigue or Exhaustion, a character must make a Fortitude check to resist disease.

Fatigued DC: 10 + # of days Fatigued

Exhausted DC: 15 + # of days Exhausted

If Medicine is in stock, you do not have to make this check. If medicine comes after becoming sick, it is cured the next day.

Upon failure of a check, a D10 is rolled. A sickened character takes -2 to ALL ROLLS, as well as one of the following effects.

Diseases

1: You feel a bit achy. (-2 Agility)

  • Your body aches, even while standing still.
  • Strenuous movement intensifies the ache.

2: You come down with a case of the sniffles. (-2 Thieving)

  • Your nose runs and your voice sounds nasally.
  • Your throat hurts a bit as well.
  • Your constant sniffles keep you from sneaking as effectively.

3: You catch a cough. (-4 Thieving, -2 CHA)

  • You are nearly constantly coughing. It is off-putting to others, and not very sneaky.

4: You feel extraordinarily weak. (-2 STR)

  • Your limbs feel like they're not at 100%.

5: Your mind is muddled with how miserable you feel. (-2 INT, -2 WIS)

  • You are in a haze of discomfort and misery that makes concentration much harder.

6: You show signs of the Ghoul Fever. (-4 CHA, -1 CON)

  • You become pale, sickly, and it hurts to stand upright.
  • You are in no danger of becoming a ghoul, you just resemble their pale, hunched form.

7: You manage to get some nasty gout. (-4 DEX)

  • Your lower extremities burn with pain, keeping you from moving as well as you normally could.
  • A long day on your feet feels worse than death.

8: You suffer from a serious fever. (-2 CON, -2 DEX, -2 STR)

  • Any time you are not in bed is pure misery.
  • You long to rest and do nothing, as it minimizes your suffering.

9: You develop Rot Lung. (-4 CON, -4 DEX, -2 STR, -8 Thieving)

  • You begin coughing up blood that soon congeals to a black substance.
  • You begin to whither, losing weight rapidly.

10: You catch the Sanguinesti Affliction. (-6 INT, -6 WIS) Leads to TEMPORARY CHARACTER LOSS

  • Day 1-3: You are overcome with depression.
  • Day 3-6: You are overly aggressive and combative.
  • Day 7: You turn green and lose all free will until cured.
  • Note: This cannot be cured with regular medicine. It can only be permanently cured with Serum 208.
Getting Over Diseases

When medicine comes back in stock, you are cured the next day. However, if medicine is not going to be an option, do not fret. Your body has a chance to fight off the disease itself. You must make a fortitude save with a DC twice as much as the disease you rolled. For example:

You come down with gout (7). You can make a Fortitude save once per day to try to get over it. The DC you must make is twice the disease, in this case, 14 (7 x 2).
