Back to Lore
Port Myrmel is a vampyre-controlled port east of Meiyerditch, owned and operated by the remnants of House Myrmel. Attached to the port is a small ghetto inhabited by humans. It is through this port that the vampyres conduct trade with the eastern lands, and whoever else makes the folly of dealing with them.
Traders that pass through here tell tales of being treated nicely by the vampyres, almost like actual business partners instead of walking food. There are, however, other rumors of brutal killings of select merchants that keep attitudes about Port Myrmel tempered.
The port itself is styled after Darkmeyer with ornate gothic designs and dark stones. The wall encompassing the ghetto is also styled in this fashion. The buildings are square and well made, and the streets are made with fine bricks. The buildings in the ghetto are made from wood, and are well maintained compared to the ones in Meiyerditch. There are a few fountains and water-sources in the ghetto, and most buildings are equipped with actual, if a bit rough, bedding. The streets in the ghetto are dirt, but are generally free of potholes and other hazards.
Eerily reminiscent of the tails of Darkmeyer, the port proper is surprisingly non-hostile to humans. The vyres and wolves that inhabit the regal, dark-stoned buildings welcome Freedmen as well as vyres and wolves can. The bricked roads are well maintained, meant to keep feet and cartwheels in the best of shape. The Portmaster's Office dominates the port proper. It is a three story building that houses Lady Aldana Myrmel, Vanescula's appointed Portmistress.
The port's security isn't provided by vyrewatch, but instead a contingent of werewolves headed by Captain Godric. The port also contains a bloodletting jail where beings who break the law are bled according to the severity of their crimes.
The Myrmel Ghetto is not nearly as expansive as Meiyerditch, only roughly the size of one of the infamous city's sectors. Even with it's diminished importance due to it's relatively small size, the ghetto receives far better treatment than the rest of the Sanguinesti. The humans there are provided with food, water, and a measure of comfort. They are even allowed to freely leave the walls of the ghetto, however the fear of Araxyte attacks or rogue vyrewatch from Meiyerditch picking them off keeps most in line.
However there are creeping rumors that some families have gone missing all at once, but there is no record of that happening in living memory.
