"I recently had word that the bartender in Canifis was interested in contacting the Myreque, specifically, with a note addressed to Calsidiu. The note, in short, stated that the writer (simply 'A Friend'), was holed up in the old castle north of Canafis. Furthermore, they had the injured Praevaricator which survived from the raid on the labs. They claimed they knew Cal' was responsible for the beast's escape, and that they believed he had the skills to put it down. Regardless of whether the writer was telling the truth or not, we were forced to set out, as the writer clearly knew a LOT of information.
After myself, Gwendolyn and Calsidiu scouted out the castle, all we saw was a small, stone 'shed' which had been hastily reinforced, as if to stop something from breaking down the door, but it was hasty, and even a wounded Venator would've been able to break through it. It was at this point a trap was suspected.
With Gwendolyn hiding the opposite side of the fence to the courtyard where we were seemingly 'supposed' to go, myself and Calsidiu proceeded into the courtyard from the castle's interior. Not long after, an armoured figure with surprising speed and elegance hopped down from the first-story balcony. I personally didn't recognise the figure, though Calsidiu identified him as Atticus, the man who was in charge of the 'Vampyre Labs' up north, the facility where he was grievously injured, but ultimately managed to survive....if disfigured."
"Soonafter, Gwendolyn rushed out from her hidey-hole to help defeat Atticus, who sported a steel draconic mask instead of the helmet he apparently wore beforehand. The fight was short, and brutal. Bolts and blades could do nothing against the hefty shield strapped to his left arm...I myself had to resort to a greatsword, and Gwendolyn her flail, attempting to attack the heavily-armoured man from all angles. He wielded a custom-forged sword, a very powerful one seemingly designed to carve through armor."
"Thankfully, Calsidiu managed to slip past Atticus's defenced long enough to smack him in the head, before cleaving the man's left arm off entirely, shield along with it. Atticus, in utter pain, was quickly struck down to a quivering, bleeding mess by the attacks of our forces combined. Eventually, Gwendolyn struck his right arm, causing him enough pain that he dropped his blade and fell to his knees, clutching at his own throat. He shouted for Calsidiu to wait before he struck him down, and he spluttered out that the Praevaricator was at Burgh', before teleporting out. We all attacked him as we realized he was about to teleport, and he surely couldn't have survived the assault, bleeding out."
"After Atticus teleported out to bleed to his death, Myself and Gwendolyn ran to Burgh', while Calsidiu teleported there. I warned Elzbeth, who in turn warned most of the people in town to stay indoors and out of sight. However, it seemed we were tricked....by the time we finally made it there, we discovered that he'd been lying, and that there was no Praevaricator in town after all. As I write this, Calsidiu patrolls the streets until morning to ensure that point remains true."
Threat : Atticus
Status : Neutralized
Another one seeking vengeance against me. You'd think they'd learn. If I'm hunting you, chances are you deserve it. Seeking retribution only ends in more suffering.
I am not convinced Atticus is dead. Until I see his corpse at my feet, we will treat him as if he escaped without a scratch. He is a dangerous, hardy man with very dark and powerful ties. He will be back.
