Last night was rough. Work got to Athena of Connor's death. She barged into the Meiyerditch base just after I trained the bard with a flail and began blaming me for everything. She demanded I give answers I did not have and to bring Connor back. No matter how many times I said it, she wouldn't accept that we had no idea if he was alive or not or where he would even be kept if he was.
She tried desperately to turn the others against me, but in turn only alienated herself. The bard and Gwen both agreed with me, and she did not like that. By this point I had already left the bunks to continue my work, but apparently weapons were drawn. The bard ran to me, but by the time I arrived the steel was holstered.
Athena begged one last time for anything I could give her, but I had to deny her request. She stormed off but didn't make it far. She was last seen out cold by the trapdoor to the base with a tear-stained face.
This is why I don't form connections. Anyone can die at any time, and there may be nothing we can do about it. I do not want to feel that pain again.
