Booker's End is a small human settlement in the Haunted Woods ruled over by vampyres. Subjected to weekly tithes, the humans here are weak and drained. It is far out of the way of any real roads or trade routes. Local legends say it was founded when a man named Booker was gravely injured while traveling with his party. They became lost in the Haunted Woods and came across a safe clearing, in which Booker died. They buried him and built a small settlement, not having the will to press on without their leader.
The buildings in Booker's End were once impressively well-built, but the decay of the swamp and the vampyre's harsh tithes and work rotations leave no time for the inhabitants to maintain the structures. The old wooden buildings often have swamp moss dangling from the roof overhands have have not collapsed to the ground. Only a few buildings have no major holes in their structures, and most have cracked foundations. The only well-maintained structure in the town is the wall surrounding it, which is in constant repair by human laborers led by Juvinates.
There is a well at the center of the town, but it is under constant guard by vyrewatch. Only those who pay additional tithes can drink fresh water from the well.
Every week, a tithing station is set up near the well. It is then that the humans are given their weekly rations and allowed some bottled, stagnant water.
There is a broken-down shrine near what has become the vyrewatch garrison. It is said that this is the grave marker of Booker.
There is a notably high ratio of vampyres to humans in this settlement due to the constant threat of feral vyres or other monsters coming in and killing their blood stock.
Every so often, a human goes missing. Despite their extremely low population, the vyrewatch do not seem to care about the missing blood.
